Back in 2005 when I started article marketing I used to submit my articles to hundreds of article directories with a semi-automated article submitter. It was great for getting back links to my web sites and blogs which helped them in the search engines. Now I submit articles primarily for traffic and I only use a handful of article directories. Here the top 5 article directories that product the best results for me. Don’t tell anyone. LOL

1. EzineArticles.com – This is easily numero ono in the top 5 article directories. They one of the oldest and largest article directories on the web with over 9.7 million visitors per month. By the way, that’s only U.S. visitors, I don’t have the statistics for the rest of the world. The site enjoys a PR6 page rank. This is one of Google’s methods of displaying a site’s popularity.

2. Zimbio.com – Zimbio boasts over 10 million global visitors per month with 5.8 million from the U.S. This is a directory that many in the Internet marketing field either don’t know about or they’re not talking about. Lots of my articles get very good search engine rankings when submitted to Zimbio. This site is also a PR6. Zimbio considers itself more of an online magazine network than an article directory, but they do accept articles and you can also submit an RSS feed from your blog.

3. Buzzle.com – Buzzle receives over 2.6 million U. S. visitors per month. The site is ranked at a PR5 and is growing rapidly in readership. They are kind of picky and they only want quality authors and articles. If you were a spammer even in a former life they may throw you out on your butt.

4. SerchWarp.com – This is a much smaller article directory with 650 thousand monthly U.S. visitors but don’t discount them. With some of the articles I’ve written I receive up to 5 times the traffic that I receive from ezinearticles.com. This, of course, depends on the topic that I’m writing about. The site has recently been increased to a PR4.

5. IdeaMarketers.com – This PR3 site receives approximately 160 thousand U.S. monthly visitors. They’ve been around for a while and a lot of Internet marketers submit articles there.

There you have it. My top 5 article directories of choice.
